WRESTLING BIOGRAPHY
Chyna has had an amazing wrestling career which has spanned over a decade. She was trained by Killer Kowalski in a school of all men. She began her career as Joanie Lee in the PGWA. and had classic matches with some of the top women in wrestling but unlike her peers Chyna had something special inside her, she had guts, heart, determination, mental and physical toughness along with a physique that few women could comes close to matching.

In 1996 Chyna was named the PGWA Rookie of the Year Award and won the IWF Women's title. But Chyna had dominated the world of women's wrestling and was ready for a switch.

In 1996, Chyna met Paul Levesque (Triple H) and Shawn Michaels (HBK) at a hotel. Both men were impressed by her physique and style. The two men helped Chyna break into the World Wrestling Federation . In 1996 she was signed to a two year contract and officially made her debut in February 1997.

The trio formed a group called D-Generation-X. No one ever realized the impact DX would have on the WWF and the wrestling world in general until mid 1998, when the group expanded and became the most popular group in professional wrestling history.

While in the WWF Chyna was revered as the toughest female in wrestling history. She was a physical force and got involved in the matches with men showing her strength and power. She frequently helped out the other DX members.

Fans quickly took notice of this woman. Not only was she earning respect from the fans, but she was earning respect from the men in the back at the same time she was becoming a huge star.

Chyna began traveling from state to state with her fellow WWF wrestlers making her presents felt in front of millions of fans. Behind the scenes she was well liked and always had a smile on her face. She was soon given the nickname of The Ninth Wonder of the World by the male wrestlers in 1998 because of her ability to combine beauty and strength all in one. The television and sporting world had never seen anyone like Chyna before.

As DX's success rose to new heights, Chyna took her career one step forward as well.

1999 was a big year for Chyna. She renewed her contract with the WWF and became became the only woman to compete in matches with men on a regular biases. Chyna became a huge superstar after breaking from DX and being the only woman to enter the Royal Rumble and qualify for the King of the Ring. She also won the coveted Intercontinental Championship, a title previously held only by men.

Her reign as champion lasted for many months. She had already stood toe to toe with the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and even The Undertaker. Chyna would go on to win the Intercontinental championship 2 more times her career.

In 2000 she entered the Royal Rumble once again. She won her match at Wrestlemania, formed an alliance with Eddie Gurrero which became a huge fan favorite.

Chyna also branched out into movies and television and even posed for a top selling issue of Playboy , right after that she released her own fitness video, More Than Meets the Eye and New York Times best selling autobiography, If They Only Knew .

2001 started off big for Chyna as she expanded her career even further in Hollywood appearing as a guest on a variety of shows.

She competed at Wrestlemania 17 and won the Women's title from Ivory. She defended her title many times and as predicted won all of her title defenses.

In July 2001, she was released from the WWF after having contract disputes about the direction her character was taking. Chyna left the company as the women's champion and never returned.

She headed back out to Hollywood to work on movies and appeared as a guest on many shows, she also posed for another top selling issue of Playboy

In 2002 she entered the New Japan wrestling federation which was owned and operated by Antonio Inoki. She became the first woman to appear at the Tokyo Dome in May and began intense training in mixed martial arts and judo. She had her first official match in the New Japan in August of 2002 where she beat a female Gold Glove holder in an ultimate fighting style match.

She came back the next month and began competing against the men, something that no other woman had done in Japan's history.

Chyna appeared in matches with icons like The Great Muta, The Great Kabuki, Tenzan and Nagata. Chyna was on a winning streak when she challenged the number one male wrestler Chono to a match at the world famous Tokyo Dome.

Soon Chyna became the talk all over the United States and Japan. Chyna showed courage and skill in her match against Chono, which she nearly won. Press all over the world gathered to cover this match including Japanese press and the FOX network in the USA.

Chyna's match was history in the making, she had done something no other woman could have or would have ever done. She went from superstar to legend and in 2003 she officially left the world of wrestling to pursue a career as a full time actress.

In 2004 Chyna made a special appearance at the UPW show at the Grove and the New Japan Anniversary Show at the Hollywood Athletic Center. Today, Chyna still makes special appearances at various wrestling events around the world but feels after nearly 10 years of wrestling that it is time to move on to other career endeavors.

Chyna proved all of her critics doubters who said she would never be a success wrong. Now, she has nothing left to prove, she has proven herself to be a superstar, an icon and a hero to millions of women and men in continents across the world.
